It’s that time of year again. Spring is a symbol of rebirth and fresh starts – the perfect time to clear out your house of all the junk that’s been bringing you down.
From old furniture and appliances to construction debris and yard waste, take advantage of the warmer weather to remove these items from your home and yard. You’ll feel so much better after you do! Check out these helpful tips:
Outsource the Job
Sure, you can box up some of the simple things for the trash but when it comes to the heavy items like broken appliances, tool benches, two-by-fours and furniture, you need help. After all, why should you risk a tweaked neck or back doing it yourself? Call a junk removal company skilled in estate cleanouts and residential trash removal.
When all is said and done, it’s likely more cost-effective to outsource this job to a pro rather than spend time and resources doing it on your own. Plus, it’ll cost you anyway when you bring the junk to the dump.
Prioritize
Before you start throwing things out willy-nilly, make a few piles in each room: one for keeping, one for donating and one for trashing. If you have lime buildup around your faucets, this can be very unsightly. Plus, if left unchecked, it can affect the operation and function of your faucets. Place paper towels over the fixture, soak with vinegar and let it sit for an hour or two. This will soften them so they’re easier to scrub off when you’re ready.
Clean Screens
This can be nearly impossible because of all the little holes. If you have an old scrap of carpet lying around, use it to brush the screen. It works great as a makeshift brush and gets out all the dirt stuck in the holes.
Polish Ceiling Fan Blades
Have you seen the tops of your ceiling fan blades lately? Dust city! Rather than take a dry rag to them and spread the dust everywhere, spray them with furniture polish first, then wipe down. Lightly buff the blades to restore their lustrous tones.
